Demystifying the Highland Park Democratic Municipal Committee (HPDMC) Endorsement Convention

Presentation given 2/5/2024 via Zoom for members of the Highland Park, New Jersey community. The host is Diane Reh, then HPDMC chair. The presenter is Flavio Komuves, HPDMC parliamentarian. The presentation discusses the process by which the HPDMC Convention determines which Democratic candidates for council and mayor the committee will endorse. Topics also covered: general civics (e.g., Highland Park’s form of municipal government), the term lengths of mayor and council members, the process and requirements to get on the primary election ballot, relevant deadlines (the dates were applicable to the 2024 primaries) and voter registration information.
